After accepting that her first two ambitions – being a jockey or
being the first female football coach at Notre Dame – were probably
not going to happen, Patricia bowed to practicality and received an
MSJ from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
Since then she's learned many lessons (and some interesting
vocabulary) in her years in newsrooms in Illinois, North Carolina
and Washington, D.C., while serving at various times as a sports
writer, columnist, copy editor, copy chief and assignment editor for
the Rockford Register-Star, Charlotte Observer and Washington Post.
She lives in Kentucky in a house that grows piles of books and dog hair
at an alarming rate.
